How to be the ultimate bridesmaid

So… you’ve been asked to be a bridesmaid. Whether you’re over the moon with excitement or absolutely dreading it, we are here to help. Whether you’re a seasoned wedding pro or a first-time bridesmaid, your role is crucial in making the day run smoothly (and drama-free). Want to be the ultimate right-hand woman on the big day? Here’s how to do it right!

Follow this checklist to ensure you're the MVP bridesmaid:

  1. Be Ready Before the Bride

Be ready at least 30 minutes before the bride. This way, you’ll be available to assist the bride instead of scrambling with last-minute touch-ups and she won’t have to worry about you.

2. Keep the Room Tidy

The bridal suite will be a hotspot for getting-ready photos, and the last thing you want is a cluttered background in those precious moments. Keep bags, food wrappers, and coffee cups out of sight. The bride (and the wedding photographer) will thank you.

3. Set the Vibes With a Killer Playlist

Music sets the tone for the morning! Whether it’s chill acoustic, 90s pop, or high-energy party anthems, a well-curated playlist will keep the mood upbeat and stress-free. Bonus points for including the bride’s favourite songs!

4. Keep the Dress Flawless

From fluffing the train to ensuring there are no wrinkles or stains, your job is to make sure the dress stays picture-perfect. Be the go-to person for fixing any dress mishaps on the spot.

5. Capture Behind-the-Scenes Moments

While the official photographer will get the polished shots, candid moments are just as special. Snap some behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the morning. These unfiltered, joy-filled moments will mean the world to the bride later.

6. Know the Key Timings & Locations

As a bridesmaid, you’ll likely get questions from guests about where to go and what’s happening next. Stay informed about the timeline and venue details so you can be helpful when needed.

7. Say Yes to the Bride

Today is all about her! Whatever she needs…whether it’s reassurance, a tissue, or a last-minute favour, be ready to say “yes” with a smile.

8. Keep the Bride Hydrated & Fed

Weddings be a whirlwind, and it’s easy for the bride to forget to eat and drink water. Make sure she stays hydrated and keeps her energy up throughout the day.

9. Be Emotionally Supportive

Weddings come with a whirlwind of emotions. Whether it's nerves, stress, or an overbearing mother-in-law (we’ve all been there). Be her rock, her safe space, and her voice of reason. Whether she needs a reassuring hug, a quick venting session, or a reminder that everything will be okay, be there to lift her up and keep the good vibes going.

10. Be a Vibe!

When it’s time to party, bring the energy! Whether it’s hyping up the dance floor, cheering, or shedding happy tears during speeches (whatever is needed).
